Google released Nano Banana 2.1, so I tested it against ChatGPT Image 2.5, Flux 3 & Seedream 5.0 Pro across 42 challenges. |
ChatGPT won the most rounds overall. But for putting a real person into new scenes & keeping them looking like themselves, Nano Banana 2.1 was the clear winner. |
So this week, I'll show you how to use it to make a full set of photos of yourself for your business, no photo shoot needed. |

Nano Banana Guide |
How We Used Nano Banana 2.1 To Make A Set Of Brand Photos Without A Photo Shoot |
|
|
A freelance consultant needs photos for a new website, a LinkedIn banner & a webinar promo. They upload one clear selfie to Nano Banana 2.1, describe each scene & get a matching set that still looks like them, no photographer needed. |
Why Nano Banana 2.1 Works |
In our 42-test showdown, it made the most natural-looking photos of a real person while keeping the likeness steady from shot to shot. |
✅ Keeps your face recognizable across every scene you create
✅ Picks outfits that fit the setting instead of copying your shirt every time
✅ Places you naturally into busy scenes, from offices to action shots
✅ Adds a second person with relaxed, natural poses instead of stiff ones
✅ Handles short headlines & product shots for quick social graphics |
How We Did It |
Here's the process we used to build a full photo set from one selfie. If you can describe a scene in a sentence, you can do this. |
1. Plan the shots your business actually needs |
Before you open anything, list where the photos will live & what each one should show, e.g., a friendly headshot for your website, you at a laptop for LinkedIn & you presenting for a webinar promo. Three to five shots is a good place to start. A clear list keeps every image useful instead of just fun. |
2. Open Nano Banana 2.1 & upload a clear photo of yourself |
Nano Banana is Google's image model, so you'll find it inside the Gemini app. Upload a well-lit photo where your face is easy to see. This is your reference photo (the image it uses to keep you looking like you). |
|
|
3. Describe the scene & let it choose the outfit |
Write one scene per prompt, e.g., 'Add me into a bright, modern office, working at a laptop. Use clothes & an expression that fit the scene.' |
|
|
That last line matters. Nano Banana 2.1 swaps your outfit to match the setting, so you aren't wearing the same shirt in every shot. For the webinar promo, try 'Add me presenting on stage to a small audience, with clothes that fit the scene.' |

The first CRM that plugs into ChatGPT Ads |
|
|
If you're deciding what's actually worth adding to your stack, here's one to evaluate: HubSpot just became the first CRM integrated directly with ChatGPT Ads. You can build, manage, and measure ChatGPT ad campaigns from inside HubSpot instead of stitching another tool onto the pile. |
HubSpot and OpenAI are launching it with an AI Growth Bundle: up to 65% off HubSpot Starter (annual, first year), buy-one-get-one-free ChatGPT Business seats for a year, and up to $500 in ChatGPT Ads credit for new advertisers. |

Nano Banana Guide Continued |
4. Add a second person or your product when you need one |
For a partner shot or a client-style scene, upload a second photo & describe how you're interacting. In our tests, Nano Banana 2.1 gave two people the most natural poses of any model. |
If your product is in the shot, zoom in on the label. It's great with large, simple text but slipped on tiny print when a person was in the scene too. |
|
|
5. Check every image up close |
Zoom in on faces, hands & any text before you use a photo. Ask yourself one question: would someone who knows you recognize you? |
If you asked for a strong expression, look extra carefully. Faces came out too smooth in our tests & lost some resemblance, so a natural expression usually works better. |
6. Build the rest of the set & save your prompt |
Keep the same reference photo & prompt structure, then swap only the scene. That's what keeps the whole set consistent, so your website, LinkedIn & promos all look like the same person on the same brand. |
A fresh set of photos for your site, social posts & promos used to mean booking a photographer. Now you can make new shots yourself whenever a new page or campaign needs one, & you stay in control of every image that goes out. |

Use Cases |
Once you have a reference photo & a prompt that works, you can reuse the same flow across your work & your life: |
Coaches & Speakers: mock up an event promo with you at the front of the room |
Real Estate Agents: create warm, welcoming agent photos for listing flyers & mailers |
Shop Owners: show yourself using your own product in lifestyle shots for social posts |
Teachers: drop yourself into a historical scene to open a lesson with a laugh |
Family & Friends: make a custom birthday card starring you & the guest of honor |

Bonus Tips |
Keep expressions natural: Big, dramatic expressions made faces look overly smooth in our tests. Ask for a relaxed look first, then nudge it if you need more emotion. |
Switch tools for text-heavy or style-matched images: ChatGPT Image 2.5 won our tests on dense infographics, copying a specific art style & character sheets (one page showing a character from every angle). Use the best tool for each job. |
Build a reusable prompt library: Save your best scene prompts in a doc. Next campaign, paste one in, swap the setting & you'll have new on-brand photos without starting from scratch. |
